Most of us are aware of the imperative need to save and invest money regularly. We do this with the objective of earning a decent return on the same- to take care of our future needs and for meeting exigencies. The amount, howsoever small, if done regularly can reap dividends in the years to come. We also know that its good if we can contribute our bit by giving back to the society – there is a feeling of satisfaction that we derive when we are able to help someone. Giving to someone in need does feel good.
However, tithing money with decree – as an investment for our past, present and future karmas – was something new that I learnt at a discourse on Service and Tithing held at the Def Colony Centre during Dec07. It was demonstrated that by tithing and doing service, our chakras grow in size. The fact that the good karma generated by tithing can decreed and willed for – was very heartening. This came from the fact that money is a Transmutable Energy- so one can tithe money not only for financial prosperity, but also for health, happiness, and spirituality. The amount is not what mattered, but the spirit of giving is what mattered.Later, I learnt that if one tithes towards a cause such as providing monetary support for fulfilling a basic need – such as food, clothing etc- one’s lower charkas grow in size. However if one gives support in such a way that the person becomes self reliant and independent – such as by making that person employable – then one’s lower and upper chakras both grow in size proportionately. The way to check this is to scan the earth and spiritual cords, before and after creating the thought of tithing to each cause.
So depending on the state of balance of one’s chakras, one can tithe more effectively and wisely.
Also an appropriate way to tithe would be to give 20% each towards the following:
1) Your Spiritual Teacher’s philanthropic works (via Trust Funds)
2) The institute/organization from where you have received your learning
3) Your Parents
4) Society
5) Natural Calamities
After attending the discourse, I was in search for options – towards the cause of employment. It took me quite a while to locate a suitable and convenient option. My search led me to a site called www.giveindia.org – which I would like to share with you.Give
India, owned and managed by the GIVE foundation, is a professionally governed, non-profit organization dedicated towards promoting a Giving culture in
India. It is a donation platform that allows you to support a cause of your choice from about 100 NGOs that have been scrutinized for transparency & credibility- to ensure that at least 90% of your donation reaches the beneficiary. So it gives you easy access to a large number of credible NGOs without needing to get concerned about the money being misused. This is because Give India lists these NGOs/ Non profit organizations only after carefully scrutinizing ground level projects and sends every donor a personalized feedback report on how the money was spent. Overall, it makes the task of selecting an organization and cause very convenient.
Recently I came across an interesting and useful article (refer link below) that provides help in identifying a credible NGO and ensuring that your money rightly goes towards the chosen cause. So you may refer to it next time u choose to tithe.http://www.window2india.com/cms/content/article11092007.jsp?aid=4832
